New TikTok Video Explains ‘House of the Dragon’ Family Tree in Under 60 Seconds

If you’re confused how House of the Dragon is connected to Game of Thrones, you’re not alone. That’s why we turned to Stream On podcast co-host Phil Mutz, who gave us the 4-1-1 on the Targaryen family tree.

In honor of the highly anticipated premiere episode, Mutz posted a brand-new video on TikTok, where he broke down the House of the Dragon characters in relation to GoT. The best part? His explanation is less than 60 seconds.

In the clip, Mutz describes how the characters in House of the Dragon are related to those in Game of Thrones. While GoT revolves around Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), the prequel series takes place 172 years before that.

It follows Daenerys’s ancestor, King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine), who is preparing to appoint a new heir. The show also introduces a few new faces—like the king’s cousin Daemon (Matt Smith), who surprisingly has no relation to Prince Philip (excluding The Crown).

In addition to Considine and Smith, House of the Dragon also stars Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Emma D’Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Eve Best (Rhaenys Targaryen), Fabien Frankel (Criston Cole), Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria) and Rhys Ifans (Otto Hightower).

HBO released the first episode of House of the Dragon earlier this week. A few days later, the streamer announced that the show has already been renewed for season 2.

BRB, rewatching the premiere and keeping this new family tree knowledge in mind.
