When it comes to film and TV, I have to be careful. Mainly because I have really poor self-control. The times I've tried to simply dip my toe into a TV series (I'm looking at you, Interior Chinatown and The Sympathizer) have nearly always resulted in a binge-watch, which is horrendous for my sleep schedule, work life and everything in general. However, my number-one weakness is a murder mystery, and after hearing a fellow PureWow editor rave about the newly dropped His & Hers, I think I'm going to be in trouble.

The limited series debuted on January 8 and has already reached number one on Netflix's top ten list. It stars Jon Bernthal as Detective Jack Harper and Tessa Thompson as a news reporter named Anna. It's based on Alice Feeney's 2020 psychological thriller of the same name. While the book is set in a British village, the Netflix adaptation transplants the characters to small-town Dahlonega, Georgia. Exes and rivals Jack and Anna will have to come together to solve a murder that takes place where Anna grew up. Jack is suspicious of Anna's involvement in the case; the grisly affair is pulling her back from a fading career.

"This limited series is extremely bingeable—I finished it in under 48 hours," says PureWow Vice President of News & Entertainment Philip Mutz. "Part of this is due to the extremely fast pace as events unfold. Part is due to the fact that there are eye-popping twists in every single episode. The show is a whoddunit where the list of suspects is long and the drama is high. Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal are fabulous as an estranged couple out to solve a murder in a small-town. Obviously, their past gets in the way—as does the fact that they suspect each other. I'd absolutely call the show a must-watch. It's thrilling, it's fun and it kept me guessing up until the last minutes of the final episode."
