Elizabeth Olsen Looks Totally Different (& Totally Terrifying) in Trailer for HBO Max’s ‘Love and Death’

Viewers will get a chance to see Elizabeth Olsen portray Candy Montgomery in the new HBO Max drama miniseries, Love and Death. And not only that, she’s giving new meaning to the word “scary.”

The streaming service recently released the first-look teaser for the upcoming series on social media. In the video, we get to see the Marvel star fully transform into the Texas housewife, who begins an affair with her neighbor Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons), and ultimately kills her friend/his wife Betty (Lily Rabe) with an axe.

The short video montage gives audiences a small glimpse into Montgomery’s life. While speaking in a southern accent, Olsen narrates, “I have done all the things a wife is supposed to do. House, kids, the meals.” The clip ends with Montgomery asking Gore (while his wife watches from the window): “I’m very attracted to you. Would you be interested in having an affair?” (*chills*)

Though the narrative is based on the events surrounding the infamous murder case, Love and Death is inspired by the 1984 novel written by John Bloom and Jim Atkinson, titled Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs, and a collection of articles from Texas Monthly: Love & Death in Silicon Prairie, Part I & II.

Olsen will take on the role of Montgomery in the new series, which was previously played by Jessica Biel in the Hulu limited series, Candy. That show (consisting of five episodes) debuted on the streaming platform on May 9.

Love and Death is expected to debut sometime next year. Just by looking at the star-studded cast and the source material, one thing is for sure: We’re beyond excited for the series premiere.
