We have some kicking good news for Cobra Kai fans (with a little bit of bad news sprinkled in...).

Netflix announced that the action series has been renewed for season six. But sadly, this will be the show’s final season. Earlier this year, the streaming service released the official announcement video across its social media platforms, which included a “highlight reel” of the biggest moments from the show.

Understandably, fans aren’t ready to bid farewell to the cast of the martial arts drama. But on a brighter note, there’s plenty to look forward to with Cobra Kai season six on the horizon. From the release date to the trailer, keep scrolling for details.

1. Is Cobra Kai Returning For Season Six?

Netflix confirmed that season six is a go by releasing a short trailer earlier this year. The streaming platform teased that this season will be the series’ “biggest and baddest” one to date, featuring a few highlights from the decades-long karate saga.

Series creator Jon Hurwitz promised the final season will address unanswered questions—plus, it’ll leave room for a potential spin-off. “We’ve also added so many characters to the mix and storylines to the mix that it’s constantly evolving what this final season is going to be,” Hurwitz said (according to UPI). “We are taking ourselves to places in the finale that we think are going to be fun, surprising and exciting.”

2. Is It True That This Will be the Final Season?

Unfortunately, yes. Series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg confirmed the news in a special letter to fans. They took a moment to celebrate the Cobra Kai series and revealed that it’s been a pleasure to continue the story of Danny LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence.

The letter read, "Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the valley in the time and place we've always imagined. So, it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement. The upcoming season six will mark the conclusion of Cobra Kai."

It continued, “While this may be a bittersweet day for the fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger. This fandom is the BEST on the planet and we hope to be telling more Karate Kid stories with you down the line. Because as we all know, Cobra Kai Never Dies.”

3. What Will Cobra Kai Season Six be About?

There’s no word yet on what the plot will be. But since karate frenemies Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny (William Zabka) joined forces to defeat Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) in season five, it’s very likely that season six will introduce a notorious new villain.

When asked if Kreese (played by Martin Kove) will return as the main villain in season six, Schlossberg told Variety, “We liked the idea that for a lot of the characters it feels like, ‘We did it. It’s over. Cobra Kai is done.’ Meanwhile, there’s the ultimate Cobra Kai snake out there that is really pissed off at everybody right now. We’ll see if life goes on easy in season six, or if Kreese has something to say. Something tells me that it’s going to be the latter.”

4. Who Stars in Cobra Kai Season Six?

It’s worth noting that cast members haven’t been confirmed just yet. However, fan favorites from season five will probably reprise their roles, including Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Vanessa Rubio, Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Peyton List, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand and Mary Mouser.

5. Are There Newcomers?

According to Deadline, C.S. Lee is joining the cast of Cobra Kai season six. The Dexter star will portray Master Kim Sun-Young, who was first introduced in The Karate Kid. Lee will star alongside Alicia Hannah-Kim, who plays his character’s granddaughter.

6. Is There a Premiere Date for Cobra Kai Season Six?

Since filming hasn’t begun, Netflix hasn’t confirmed a premiere date. Production was delayed due to the SAG/AFTRA strikes, but now that a deal has been reached, there’s no stopping Netflix from filming.

Until then, we’ll be stalking checking Netflix’s social media accounts for updates.
