To binge or not to binge, that is the question

When new shows drop, it’s usually pretty clear right away if they’re going to be a hit or a hard pass. Some series shoot straight to the top of the streaming charts because people genuinely love them (like Netflix's Death by Lightning). Others hit that spot because viewers can’t stop hate-watching (looking at you All's Fair). But Peacock’s latest thriller, All Her Fault? Audiences are totally split.

Based on Andrea Mara’s best-selling novel, All Her Fault premiered on Peacock November 6. The story follows wealthy mom Marissa Irvine (Sarah Snook, Succession) after her 5-year-old son, Milo, disappears following a playdate. As the investigation unfolds, dark family secrets come to light, the nanny gets tangled in suspicion and there’s a jaw-dropping twist about Milo.

For anyone wondering, All Her Fault isn’t based on a true story but it was inspired by a real moment in the author's life. She once went to pick up her daughter from a playdate only to find the house empty, sparking a panic that eventually inspired the book.

It sounds totally gripping and with all the recent buzz, you’d think it was destined for awards season but the reviews tell a different story. In a nutshell, some viewers are obsessed, while others are less impressed.

Time slammed the series, calling it “absolute nonsense” and saying it’s “so ill-conceived and poorly executed, on so many levels,” while Variety described it as “middling.”

But not everyone feels that way. The Guardian called it “an absolute pleasure to watch” and on Rotten Tomatoes it holds a solid 75 percent average score.

"Absolute must-see. Wild twists and turns, camp, and incredible performances," one person raved. While another shared, "Despite the glowing mainstream reviews...there is nothing new or creative here."

While viewers are on either end of the love-it-hate-it spectrum, there is one thing everyone can agree on. Sarah Snook kills it.

Audiences also gave props to the rest of the cast, including Dakota Fanning, Jay Ellis, Jake Lacy and more.

So is All Her Fault worth the watch? I'd say why not give it a try. Whether you love it or hate it it'll give you something to talk about.

All eight episodes of All Her Fault are streaming now on Peacock.
