Jennifer Aniston’s hair is practically a celebrity in its own right—it did inspire a nickname that’s lasted two decades, after all. And while the cut has evolved with the trends, her signature color has managed to transcend fashion over the years for a timeless, lasting look, all thanks to the one and only Michael Canalé, her colorist since the very beginning. The stylist to the stars has a brand-new line of hair products called Canalé and years of A-list experience, and he just spilled all of his favorite brands to us. (Plus, he also dished on how Jen really gets her hair to look so dang shiny.) Here, seven products for dyed hair that Michael Canalé swears by.

Canalé ‘replenish’ Hair Vitamin
If you thought his number one hair product would be a serum or cream, think again. “This is kind of like Viviscal, but the vegan approach, and it’s how ancient Sikhs would grow their hair to 15 feet long,” he explains. “If you’re over 40, this is a must. It will keep your hair thick and shiny, while helping the color stick to your follicle.”

L’oreal Professionnel Serie Expert Absolut Repair Lipidium Instant Resurfacing Conditioner
One of his biggest pieces of advice? “Shop separately. Get a shampoo that cleans your hair the best and then find a product that conditions how you want.” If you’re looking for a traditional, budget-friendly conditioner, Canalé swears by this one from L’Oréal that you can find at pretty much any drugstore.
Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy Extreme Restoration Treatment
Another technique Canalé always suggests to his clients is to skip your regular conditioner all together. Instead, dip damp ends into a deep conditioner and cover with a baggy for as long as you can. “Pop on a show or prep dinner and just let your hair soak up all of the moisture.” Leave it on for at least 20 minutes (or as long as you have time for) and rinse out with water in the shower.
Conair Pro Styler Bonnet Hair Dryer
But to really get the most out of your deep conditioner, sit under a dome dryer while it's soaking in. “Heat actually opens your hair follicles and helps the colors get in there, while slicking the follicle down for extra shine.” According to Canalé, Jennifer Aniston has one in her own house, which is how she keeps her locks so shiny.
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
Although not exclusively for dyed hair, dry shampoo still gets an honorable mention as one of Canalé’s favorite favorite products. “It has a fresh smell, extends unwashed hair, masks any workout residue, is great for masking smell and adds body and volume. Even when hair is freshly clean, I like to throw a little dry shampoo in for texture.”
