The surprise and delight factor of Meghan Markle turning up at the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week was *chef’s kiss*. Beyond her chic attire (reminder, she wore not one, but two different Balenciaga looks), I haven’t been able to stop thinking about her glowy skin and makeup. Thank goodness her go-to makeup artist (and long-time pal) Daniel Martin, Global Director of Artistry for Tatcha, took to Instagram to offer a deep dive into how he created Meghan’s effortlessly radiant look.

The core products he used? A lot of Tatcha of course—not just because he works for the brand, but because it’s been a part of his usual skin prep for Meghan for years at this point. He also reached for Tom Ford—not just for her cheeks, but for her lipstick, too. (In Meghan’s own Instagram reel from the weekend, she includes a glimpse of Martin laying out multiple Tom Ford shades to choose from.) Still, it’s his application tips and tricks—which Martin goes into detail about—that are what I most want to learn from and replicate.

For one thing, when it comes to foundation, Martin says he typically applies most of it with his hands and almost like a massage. Then, when he’s done, he’ll “go in with a brush to add more coverage and a sponge to blend it out.” He also reveals one Tatcha-based switch-up he tried in Paris on Meghan: Martin mixed the Tatcha Longevity Serum ($80) with her foundation before applying. “It added another layer of radiance to her makeup that made her look even more juicy and glowy,” he shares.

There’s more: After foundation, Martin applied Paris Berlin Pressed Powder (available for sale in Paris) to Meghan’s T-zone only, then used Tom Ford’s Contour Cream ($85) on her cheeks. On top of that, he reached for Tatcha’s Serum Stick ($49). “[She] just flew in [and] your skin gets dehydrated from the plane, so I wanted to bring some hydration back and bring some life to it,” he explains.

Finally, the finishing touch: A Tom Ford lipstick in Iconic Nude ($45), which Martin describes as a mauvy pink and a hue Meghan selected herself. The overall result is a look that felt light, fresh and radiant, he says.

Still, there is one beauty risk he wishes Meghan would take for future events. “I would love to get her in a bold lip one day,” Martin admits while talking to camera. “Meghan if you’re watching this, let’s do a lip! I’d love to see you in a lip!”

Same, Daniel, same. But also, his beauty insights make clear that minimal makeup—and well-cared for skin—is all you really need to shine. Meghan’s Paris look is proof.
