Ever wonder how celebs make their red carpet looks last all night? Well, there’s usually a strategy concocted by their hairstylist and makeup artist to keep hair in place and lipstick from smudging—at least until the afterparties start.

PureWow was able to talk with celebrity makeup artist Emma Willis to get details on her work for tonight’s 77th annual Golden Globes at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.

The MUA for E News! correspondent Giuliana Rancic luckily gave us the A's to our most burning red carpet Q's right before the Globes kicked off.

Q: What item did you put in your client's purse for touch-ups during the show?
A:
Thankfully I’m with Giuliana throughout the entire show LIVE from the Red Carpet so I’ll be on hand for touchups!

Q: What's the hair tool/makeup product you depend on for a major red carpet like the Globes?
A: There are so many but one product I will ALWAYS have in my kit as it can be used—and I use it—for so many things is Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

Q: Do you already know what looks each client will have in advance? How do you prep?
A: Generally they will select the dress/what they are going to wear and then we discuss glam from there depending on the overall “look” so it’s always a discussion just prior to the event and then I pack my kit accordingly with all the goodies!

Q: Is there one product not yet invented you think would be beneficial for these kinds of events?
A: PERFECT WEATHER CONDITIONS LOL!!!!! PERFECT!!!!

Q: What’s one tip or trick you have for making a look last for as long as possible?
A: It’s ALL in the prep. ALL in the prep! Lots of very thin layering with regards to makeup for it to last but without it looking heavy or too much; it’s all about the technique along with the right products and finishing products. The same with hair when I’m doing that too!
