I do not need new makeup. I want to make that very clear upfront. I own enough blush, lipstick and nail polish to sustain a small village. And yet, every time Chanel Beauty releases a new collection, I suddenly start behaving like someone who has never seen a lip product before in her life. This summer’s launches got me especially bad. That’s the thing Chanel beauty consistently gets right: even the trendier shades still feel wearable. Nothing feels overly TikTok-coded or aggressively trendy. The products just…work. Below, the Chanel beauty launches that unfortunately convinced me I did, in fact, need more makeup.

Nectar is more of a rich berry-purple than the peachy coral I expected from its name, which makes it feel a little moodier and more interesting than your typical summer blush. It gives cheeks that flushed look that usually works especially well at night, though I’ve been wearing it during the day too. The formula blends beautifully into the skin and has that soft glow finish Chanel does really well. The color also builds nicely, so you can keep it sheer or layer it for a deeper berry flush. I usually prefer a doe-foot applicator with liquid blushes, but I really liked the squeeze packaging here. It’s great for travel because you don’t have to worry about it cracking the way powder blushes do, and it’s easy to squeeze directly onto your fingers or cheeks and blend quickly on the go.

There are two kinds of mascaras: the ones that make your lashes look big and very bold, and the ones that make your eyes look better overall. Chanel’s new Les Beiges mascara falls firmly into the second category. For starters, I love that the wand is slim with densely packed bristles that grab every single lash (especially those tiny corner lashes most mascaras completely ignore.) It separates beautifully while still building soft fullness, so the final effect looks fluttery instead of clumpy. What stood out most to me was how lightweight it felt. Some volumizing mascaras start strong but leave lashes stiff, crunchy or weirdly heavy by midday. This one keeps lashes flexible and feathery-looking even after multiple coats. The formula itself sits somewhere between satin and natural; not ultra glossy, not overly matte. After two coats, my lashes looked lifted, elongated and fanned out a tad. And most importantly, I experienced minimal smudging and flaking.

Baigneuse is a teal-blue shade that shifts depending on the lighting. In some moments, it pulls more turquoise. In others, it looks deeper and moodier, almost like Mediterranean water right before sunset. I normally don’t gravitate toward colorful nail polish because I inevitably panic halfway through the week and suddenly decide I’m exhausted by the color. But this color is very wearable. The formula is also really good—glossy, smooth and fully opaque without streaking or patchiness. I liked it enough that I’m actually reconsidering my usual “neutral toes only” policy for summer.

I know I’m making a bold statement here, but bear with me. Garçonne has strong next Ballet Slippers potential. It has that same wear-with-everything quality, but the peach undertone makes it feel less bridal and that is what makes it a wonderful color. Even though it’s part of Chanel’s new summer launch, I would bet most would wear it year-round. In the summer, it looks glossy against sun-kissed skin. In the fall and winter, it becomes that neutral that works with oversized knits, gold jewelry and literally every outfit in your closet.

I like a fair amount of pieces from Chanel’s new beauty collection, but Fruity is easily the star of the show. The shade is this glossy plum-purple with a slightly rosy warmth that instantly makes my face look brighter. The formula also glides more like a balm than a traditional lipstick, which makes it really easy to blend and reapply throughout the day without needing a mirror or precision. I enjoy wearing it as a sheer wash of color or to build it up for more payoff, but either way, the finish stays soft instead of sticky which is exactly what I want in the summer.
