Much like with clothing, certain grooming tools and products work best depending on the season. And as most people know, fragrances are often categorized for the season based on the notes they contain and their overall smell. Wondering what exactly makes fall fragrances and colognes different from winter and summer fragrances? For starters, fall fragrances tend to have a more woody and spicy scent in line with the many elements we associate with the fall season, such as pumpkins, fireplaces and changing leaves. With fall on the horizon, I've rounded up a list of the 10 best fall fragrances for men that will have the guy in your life smelling like a dream.
From classics like Versace Eros ($139) to underrated offerings like the Gucci Intense Oud EDP Spray ($225), I consider these the best of the best.

What to Look for in a Fall Fragrance
- Scents: The simple answer here is that you need to consider the notes. Most fall fragrances have a woody or spicy smell that reminds you of fall staples such as fireplaces, pumpkins, certain plants, etc.
- Concentration: There are four major categories of concentration to consider when picking your fall fragrance: eau de cologne, eau de toilette, parfum, and eau de parfum. Eau de cologne is the lightest scent, estimated to have a 1-to-5 percent concentration, which lasts roughly one hour. Eau de toilette is next, estimated to have an 8-to-12 percent concentration, and will last a couple of hours. Eau de parfum is a slightly stronger scent that has roughly 12-to-20 percent concentration, and will last you half a day, and parfum is the strongest scent, with an estimated 20-to-40 percent concentration that will last the entire work day.
- Price: Knowing your budget ahead of time and how much you want to spend on a fragrance is another important element.
- Consider your climate: Lastly, consider your climate. Do you live in a place that has a warmer fall season, like California or Florida? Or are you in a region that starts to experience cooler temperatures once the season hits? This is important to note because if you live in a place that's hot or has a lot of humidity, you'll probably require a fragrance with a higher concentration.
