Your Weekly Horoscopes: May 24 to 30, 2020
With only two notable cosmic events, this week’s astrological forecast is quite calm compared to the tumult of the last few weeks. First, there’s an inspiring moment on the 25th when warrior planet Mars connects with eccentric Uranus. This aspect has us making moves on our most creative, progressive and unusual ideas. Whatever we put effort into will come easily.
On the 28th, messenger planet Mercury––still moving at lightning speed!––enters moody Cancer. For an idea of what Mercury in Cancer’s all about, please note that sensitive pop queens Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey were both born with Mercury in Cancer. (Got that “Summertime Sadness” anyone?) With the communication planet in the crab’s sign until August 5th and Venus still retrograde, there’s no escaping our feelings. The love songs and breakup poems are inevitable so why not start writing them now?
(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)
You may find yourself at a loss for words this week as your ruling planet Mercury leaves your sign for Cancer. Though the gossip isn’t flowing and you’re feeling off your usual witty game, try enjoying the silence. On the 25th, a frustrating situation at work reminds you of all the things that are out of your control. Rather than trying to make a joke or laugh it off, just pause. There are many ways to relieve tension and listening is one of them.
This week’s mantra: Notice the silence.
Money is on your mind this week as you’re forced to make a tough financial decision. And with Mercury entering your sign on the 28th for a long-term stay, everything’s feeling a little too personal. You want to buy that chic new lounge set or those gorgeous limited edition Diptyque candles. But you should be using that cash to pay down your car loan or settle things with your accountant. Why should you have to choose? Remember that you already have so many beautiful things. Do you really need more stuff?
This week’s mantra: Appreciate what you have.
If someone comes to you with a business proposition this week, take it. As Mars connects with Uranus across your shared resources and career sectors on the 25th, it’s a wonderful time to team up on a big project. The more you build support and stay open to collaboration, the more influence you have. That said, with Mercury entering Cancer, be sure to review all the details before you sign a contract. Don’t act on instinct alone. The best deal feels right in your gut, but it also looks good on paper. Get a good lawyer for this one.
This week’s manta: Go for it.
With your ruling planet Mercury leaving chatty Gemini for emotional Cancer this week, you are likely fielding phone calls, texts and carrier pigeons with cries for help from friends. Everyone wants your advice, but will anyone actually take it? Try to show up without wasting your time. On the 25th, listen to your BFF when she tells you to stop working and take a yoga class or watch an art house film instead (Portrait of a Lady on Fire, anyone?). She might be pushy about it, but it’s because she just wants you to relax.
This week’s mantra: Be present.
With Mercury moving into Cancer and your career and public image sector this week, get ready for your time in the spotlight. Over the next couple of months, you’ll be doing more public speaking or writing, leading more office Zoom meetings and handing out lots of sage advice. Use the extra spark of energy on the 25th to sort out some life admin and organize your home office. You can power through collating all your expense receipts for taxes if you put your mind to it. Remember: you lead better when you’re put together.
This week’s mantra: Clear your head to move ahead.
If you’ve been feeling timid about approaching your crush, taking your relationship to the next level or hitting up a prospective client, a burst of creativity on the 25th is your opportunity to make a move. As the zodiac’s true ride or die, you want everyone to know how serious you are, but you’re also a lot of fun. No one does a date night, throws a party or makes something beautiful quite like you. You’re the dreamiest. When you stop trying so hard, you get what you want.
This week’s mantra: Lean into your mystique.
If tension is building in your home and family life, the answer to your problems might be...a pet. If your mom is still worried about you living alone during lockdown, reassure her you’re fine by adopting a kitten. If your kids are getting restless as school-from-home comes to an end, find a scraggly rescue pup to bring joy to the whole family. Cuddly or not, taking care of something, anything definitely relieves the stress you’re feeling this week. On the 25th especially, you might happen upon the furry friend of your dreams.
This week’s mantra: There’s no love like puppy love.
Have you been holding off having a confrontation with your husband or your business partner? This week, things are likely feeling unavoidably tense. As Mercury moves into Cancer and your committed relationship sector on the 28th, you’re able to speak and listen with more compassion. You’ve had to make some quick decisions together in the last few months, but now it’s time to have an honest conversation about where you go from here. Lay it all out on the table. It’s OK if tears come too.
This week’s mantra: Feel your feelings.
If Mars traveling through your earned income sector since the 13th has brought you a raise, a bonus or your backdated unemployment pay, use some of the extra cash for home improvements this week. On the 25th, you may find that dream linen bedding or swoon-worthy sectional couch at a great deal, so don’t hesitate to make the purchase. If you’re craving minimalism rather than acquiring new stuff, put some funds into a savings account for your next lease or a future down payment.
This week’s mantra: Set yourself up.
If you’ve been feeling disconnected from your emotions or your artistic self, Mercury’s entrance into Cancer this week brings romantic and creative inspiration. Your heart is so full and you have so much to share, but it’s difficult to put yourself out there. Use the future-oriented energy on the 25th to spill your guts to your crush or ask some friends to join you for a weekly writing circle. Even if your feelings aren’t reciprocated or you’re left on read, at least you started the conversation.
This week’s mantra: Vulnerability is power.
You’re a self-starter, a go-getter and you usually don’t need anyone else to tell you when to say “when.” But this week, as Mars connects with Uranus on the 25th, let someone else take the wheel. Help your BFF with her business plan, let your sister vent about her Summer 2021 wedding or just play the part of sous chef when your boyfriend roasts a chicken. Being a co-pilot makes you feel accomplished too. It’s a relief to keep some ideas to yourself.
This week’s mantra: When you let go, you’ll take off.
If you have something to say, now’s the time to say it. With Mercury in compassionate Cancer until August 5th, the next couple of months should be about connection––with your siblings, your old friends and your neighbors. How can you support others with your words and how can you feel more supported? Who needs a postcard or a note? A flood of voicemails and a barrage of emails from friends and coworkers on the 25th helps you figure out where you’re really needed. Take the time to read and to listen.
This week’s mantra: Get back in touch.
