To get things started, consider this fun experiment—what’s your lover’s zodiac sign? Next question: What is the sex toy that really speaks to that sign? Don’t stress—we didn’t know the answers either. So while we have tried out interesting sex toys for couples, worn down the batteries on all the vibrators for women and experimented with a host of other intimate accessories, we didn’t have a clue about the Venn diagram where, for instance, astrology intersects with anal plugging. So we hit up Chad Braverman, the CCO of Doc Johnson, America’s largest sex toys manufacturer, for precise intel on star-crossed solo enjoyment and couples gifting.

22 Quiet Vibrators to Have Silent Self-Sex (or to Enjoy with a Partner)

Meet the Expert

Chad Braverman is the CCO and COO of Doc Johnson Enterprises, a North Hollywood, California-based company that manufactures and markets sex toys. He is a second-generation company man; his father started the business in in 1976 after buying a small rubber company that made fishing lures, Halloween special effects kits and sex toys. Today, Braverman innovates toys ranging from dildos and vibrators to molded replicas of OnlyFans stars.

1. Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

What’s this lover like? Bores easily, enjoys boundary-pushing

Aquarians need to switch it up in the bedroom, so a multi-functional toy is first choice.  “If there’s a risk of getting bored, the best option has to be the Rechargeable Merci Power Wand. It is incredibly powerful, so you don’t have to waste any time before climaxing, [it is] able to be used with attachments and most importantly: can be used anywhere you take it. It doesn’t have to be plugged in, so the options are limitless,” says Braverman.

2.   Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

What’s this lover like? In need of quick tension release

Pisces can be pretty tightly wound, so a portable toy that can provide a quick climax is welcome. And of course, as a water sign, water-resistant options are paramount. “There’s no better place to let off steam, especially for a water sign, than the shower,” says Braverman. “So I love the idea of a water-resistant toy for a Pisces. Use the Ritual Chi—a small, powerful silicone vibrator perfectly shaped to hold in your palm—next time you need to have a long soak.”

3.   Aries (March 21 – April 19)

What’s this lover like? Single-minded in pursuit of satisfaction (and a secret softie)

“There’s only one real option for an Aries, and that’s the Fort Troff Piston Thruster,” says Braverman. “It has a strong suction-cup base and multiple thrusting and vibrating speeds—a true ram.” (But if you like to mix things up, we found two other options fit for the fire sign.)

4. Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

What’s this lover like? Slow, steady and strong

The bull is unhurried and uninhibited, so a rechargeable mini-vibrator might be the way to go—for full-body stimulation, edging and using on both you and your partner. Braverman recommends one that’s specially designed to fit around the clitoris or nipples. “When you want to take your time, there’s nothing better for your clit than the Body Bling Breathless. It’s small and powerful, but not too powerful. You can keep yourself busy but not overwhelmed for as long as you want,” he says.

5. Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

What’s this lover like? Experimental is the name of the game

The twins need twice as much attention, so unusual and multi-stim devices are a go. “When the only constant is that you want to keep things fresh, the Tryst v2 is perfect for a Gemini. It has the same shape as our award-winning Tryst (also a great option) but its bendable arms (with a strong motor in each) make things even more interesting,” says Braverman. “They can be twisted, posed and used for insertion or external stimulation, with a partner or without.”

6. Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

What’s this lover like? All about the foreplay

“A Cancer wants to experience and really enjoy their time,” says Braverman, so we’re thinking that oils, gels and other accompaniments can really warm them up. He suggests a kit with “Tingle Drops, Warming Gel, Cooling Spray and watermelon-flavored Oral Delight Gel, so your partner enjoys spending time down there as much as you do. And when it’s their turn? A couple sprays of the Strawberry Deep Throat will help you return the favor,” he says.

7. Leo (July 23 – August 22)

What’s this lover like? Giving, giving and more giving

For a giver, there’s nothing better than, well, giving! And the vibrating Be Naughty Body Extensions set allows you to top your partner while you’re taken care of as well. The vibration in the base hits your clit just right, and the three dildos included allow you to choose a different experience on different nights–or with different partners!

8. Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

What’s this lover like? Secrecy, clandestine hook-ups and discreet encounters

Super-quiet toys, tiny vibrators and other easy-to-hide sex toys will please the seemingly button-downed, control-focused astrological sign represented by a virgin. “The easiest vibrator to hide is one that doesn’t actually vibrate. Virgos should try Buzz, which comes in Original or Ultra,” says Braverman.” Both are stimulating clitoral gels that take your pleasure to all-new heights, completely hands-free. And when you’re playing with a partner, it also provides gentle lubrication for ultimate comfort and stimulation.”

9. Libra (September 23 – October 21)

What’s this lover like? When in doubt, bring on the kink

“The Merci VIP Room was made for a Libra,” says Braverman. “Well, not actually, but the box has everything needed for a kinky night in. Use the tickler, blindfold, ball gag, paddle, cock ring, silk ties, nipple clamps, vibrating cock ring and 10-speed bullet vibrator all together for your most extreme night, or separate them across experiences when you don’t have time to get all tied up.”

10. Scorpio (October 22 – November 21)

What’s this lover like? Intense energy that initially appears shy (but don’t be fooled)

Braverman has two words for the sexy Scorpio: nipple clamps. “One of the most overlooked, kinkiest products, nipple clamps are a must for any Scorpio” who will really let their freak flag fly once they release their passions in private. “I recommend Chained Up from the Merci line,” he says, “because it grasps your nipples tight, providing intense pleasure, and the chain between can also be pulled or twisted for extra sensation.”

11.  Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

What’s this lover like? Spontaneity and quickies for a fast climax can be fun for this sign

Sagittarius is the half-man, half-horse who appreciates some fast and frenetic action in the sack. When you need the job done quickly, it’s best to approach from all angles, and to that end, Braverman recommends a toy with multiple stimulation points. Voila, the vibrator named This Product Sucks. “It’s a double-sucking clitoral stimulator with a bendable G-spot vibrator, so it has everything you need. You can get yourself ready quickly with its powerful clitoral suction, and then finish the job with the opposite side, an insertable vibrator that hits your G-Spot just right. There’s no edging when both sides are this good.”

12.  Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

What’s this lover like? Horny all the time, so dependable and satisfying sex is a priority

Braverman recommends the randy goat have a toy that goes the distance, with a long-lasting battery and a design that’s small and discreet enough to take it wherever you need to go. “The iPlease is the dream for a Capricorn. It’s simple and to the point, but so powerful,” he says. “It has 20 different vibration settings and is ideal for clit stimulation, but the silicone ring makes it incredible for penetration as well.”
