Your July 2020 Horoscopes
Welcome to July, another month that isn’t playing games. Saturn re-enters Capricorn on the 1st, where the discipline planet remains through December. This makes us hyper-aware of all that’s falling apart and needs to be rebuilt in our personal and collective lives. On the 5th, there’s a lunar eclipse in Capricorn—the final eclipse in a series that’s been happening since January 2019. This eclipse wants us to ghost a toxic friend, give our closet a purge or leave that soul-sucking job. There’s nothing stopping us from walking away.
On the 12th, moody Mercury in Cancer stations direct after three weeks of retrograde shenanigans. Now, we can send that emotional text without it getting trapped in a technological void! Then, Cancer season ends with a new moon in the crab’s sign on the 20th. Though new moons are usually a time for setting intentions, this lunation is all about identifying and letting go of harmful habits and choosing to nurture ourselves instead.
Leo season begins on the 22nd (happy birthday to our fierce lionesses like queens Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry and Kacey Musgraves!) and has us—ever so briefly—feeling like a “Hot Girl Summer” is finally here! Though this is generally a bold, vibrant respite from the relentless WTF of this year, let’s not get too comfortable yet. On the 27th, with three major cosmic events—and two of them involving Neptune!—we’re bound to get caught up in something hazy, intoxicating or expensive. So let’s practice patience, balance and not forget any of this year’s hard learned lessons
(Horoscopes follow for each sign. If you know your rising sign, reading for that will provide further insight.)
It’s still your season, sweet moonchild! And with both the sun and Mercury retrograde in your sign at the top of the month, you’re feeling as lively as you are sensitive. And then on the 8th, an incident at work leaves you exhausted or defeated. Wait until Mercury goes direct on the 12th to confront the issue so there’s less of a chance of misinterpretation. At the new moon on the 20th, you’re ready to let go of a self-deprecating narrative that’s been holding you back—joking that you’re a slow reader or bad a math doesn’t suit you anymore. Take some time around this date to reflect and center yourself—and have a long soak in the bath—as you step into your power.
Love Horoscope: The lunar eclipse on the 5th falls in your commitment sector. And if you’re in a relationship, this lunation brings up a conflict that you thought was over back in December 2019. You always come out stronger when you work it out together.
Money Horoscope: The sun enters Leo and your money sector on the 22nd, encouraging you to purchase all the fabulous goodies you’ve had in your shopping cart since at least May! Your spending definitely increases during the last week of the month, but your confidence is worth every penny.
With the sun and Mercury retrograde highlighting your unconscious sector through the 21st, your number-one goal should be rest. But at the lunar eclipse on the 5th, you’re startled out of a deep meditation to handle an overwhelming chore—like renewing your license or an expensive trip to the vet. This stress may come up again on the 14th, 15th or 20th. Your season begins on the 22nd, so take some time at the end of the month to lean into your skincare routine, break out your summer looks and let yourself feel fabulous like the queen you are.
Love Horoscope: This month is not the most romantic for you as you’re mostly happier to spend time alone. If you’re in a relationship, trying to relax with your partner may cause a rift around the new moon in Cancer on the 20th. Take this as an opportunity to learn how to rest together.
Money Horoscope: The lunar eclipse on the 5th is a moment to refocus your priorities. If you’re caught up in a grueling project for work, consider whether you should ask for a raise. Then on the 27th, a friend asks to borrow money for something outrageous like Lizzo tickets in 2021. Lend her the cash only if you have the funds to get something for yourself as well.
With Mercury retrograde in your social sector through the 12th, you’re spending all your time catching up with long lost ex-coworkers and BFFs from college. It’s a thrill to reconnect, but you might burn out on the 8th when you give too much advice without getting any in return. At the new moon in Cancer on the 20th, you find yourself surrounded—whether on Zoom or socially distanced at a park—with friends you love and trust. Take note of who isn’t there and who hasn’t been for a while. Not every friendship is meant to last forever.
Love Horoscope: The lunar eclipse on the 5th falls in your romance sector, and if you’ve been happily living like a monk during quarantine, this lunation forces you back into the dating game. Dust off your OKCupid profile or flirt a little with the cute guy at the wine shop when you pick up your bottle of Pét-Nat.
Money Horoscope: Mars is now in your shared finance sector where the action planet remains until January 2021! Though you’re not quite ready to make any big money moves, you’re definitely brainstorming ways to bring on new clients or start a side hustle. Take notes now so you can make moves later this year.
With Venus no longer retrograde, you’re ready to integrate what you’ve been learning into your daily life—whether it’s a virtual herbalism class or your first law school course. At the lunar eclipse on the 5th, a family or housing problem that has been chipping away at your spirit for months or even years reaches a climax. Whether you’re clearing the basement of your childhood home so your parents can sell or packing your bags to get away from a toxic roommate situation, you just need to let go. An auspicious career opportunity arrives with the new moon in Cancer on the 20th. Trust that you earned it.
Love Horoscope: Mars—planet of war and also of sex—has settled into your committed partnership sector for the next six months. If you’re in a relationship, this means lots of arguments followed by lots of makeup sex. If you’re single, this means you might be too caught up in a comparison trap to let yourself be loved. If you’re feeling the heat, don’t keep it all inside.
Money Horoscope: The new moon in Cancer on the 20th followed by the sun dipping into luxurious Leo on the 22nd points to an interesting career move that may lead to some networking opportunities so keep yourself open to anyone who’s willing to help you out this month.
With your ruling planet Mars now in Aries, you’re feeling active and inspired. You’re ready to work out for the first time since quarantine began, plow through a tedious assignment for your boss and get out in the streets and fight for justice. On the 8th, and then again on the 27th though, your work ethic is tested when an authority figure asks you to do something that doesn’t match your values. With the new moon in Cancer on the 20th affirming your most deeply held beliefs, trust that you’re up to holding your ground in a challenging conversation.
Love Horoscope: Instead of focusing on love or romance this month, you’re better off spending time with friends, cleaning your apartment and exploring your slowly reopening neighborhood (in a mask, of course). At the lunar eclipse on the 5th though, you get into a huge fight with your sister or an old friend who used to feel like one. Do what you can to keep her negative energy out of your space.
Money Horoscope: Since May, it has been easier than usual for you to purge your belongings and consolidate your assets. Money remains steady for you this month so don’t be overly frugal. If a familiar urge to splurge returns on the 27th, donate that money to an organization fighting for racial justice and equality.
This year has been all about slow and steady financial growth. And July begins with you still reeling from an epiphany you had on June 30th about your spending habits. The lunar eclipse on the 5th is the perfect time to purge your closet and let go of anything that doesn’t spark joy. But instead of just throwing away those barely-worn designer jeans or those paisley bed sheets that match nothing else in your apartment, donate or hand them off to a friend. By the 27th, you’re browsing minimalist Pinterest boards and feeling much more inspired and hopeful about your living space.
Love Horoscope: With action planet Mars now in your romance sector until January 2021, you’re feeling very flirtatious this month. If you’re single, you might schedule a date or at least flirt with someone cute on the apps on both the 8th and the 27th. If you’re taken, the 27th is the perfect time for a romantic getaway with your love.
Money Horoscope: With Mercury still retrograde in your shared finances sector until the 12th, avoid negotiating any major contracts until later in the month. Any new clients you take on or business partnerships you forge around the new moon on the 20th are sure to last.
With disciplined Saturn returning to your sign on the 1st, you’re desperately in need of more self-care, and the lunar eclipse on the 5th is a further wake up call. Have you been slacking on exercise? Neglecting your skincare routine? Eating excessive amounts of ice cream even though you’re lactose-intolerant? Whatever it is, it’s time to adjust. With aggressive Mars now in your home sector, you also get the urge to move or at least rearrange your space this month. Pay attention to any intriguing furniture sales or real estate listings that catch your eye on the 8th and the 27th.
Love Horoscope: If quarantine dating has so far been an utter fail, you may finally find someone worth his weight in hand sanitizer on the 1st. If you’re in a relationship, an argument on the 20th makes you realize by the new moon on the 22nd that it’s either time to really commit or take a break.
Money Horoscope: Though cash flow is steady for you throughout the first part of the month, you become more focused on shared finances when the sun enters Leo on the 22nd. By the new moon in Leo on August 18th, you’ll be ready to take on a new side hustle or more clients so start collecting contacts now.
Relief comes as Saturn dips back into Capricorn on the 1st. You’ve been working so hard to feel healthier, stronger and more confident since March 21st, but this month, you can focus on the big picture. On the 5th, the lunar eclipse reminds you of a missed opportunity. Instead of getting caught up in what went wrong, focus on mindfulness and what you learned despite that failure. At the new moon on the 22nd, you’re able to negotiate a more balanced work schedule or organize your home office to be more functional. Your priority should be your peace of mind.
Love Horoscope: Venus is still in Gemini and your romance sector this month and though you’re as flirty as ever, you’re definitely more careful about who you’re approaching. If you’re single, you might feel like committing to any old fling as the sun enters Leo on the 22nd. But channel that energy into planning a magical date with yourself on the 27th instead.
Money Horoscope: Your cash flow remains steady this month but you’re also grinding so hard at your day job that you’re likely to burn out between the 20th and 22nd. If you feel like you’re not getting paid enough, talk it out rather than sitting with resentment.
Quarantine has given you a break from being an emotional sponge, but you’re forced to break some social boundaries on the 1st as Saturn returns to your friendship sector. At the lunar eclipse on the 5th, surround yourself with people who inspire you rather than those you think you have to hang out with. The new moon in Cancer on the 20th gets you back in touch with your creativity that has felt elusive for the last few months. Finally, you’re ready to read that feminist retelling of King Lear (or at least, try that difficult cake recipe). By the 30th, you’re at a place you can share something you’ve made with the world—or at least with everyone who follows you on Instagram.
Love Horoscope: Through the 12th, Mercury retrograde has you pining for a long-lost ex or a distant crush. Instead of giving into the urge to be the “ex who texts,” focus on manifesting a future-oriented and ideal relationship. At the new moon on the 20th, you finally meet someone worth your attention.
Money Horoscope: With Mars transiting your personal finance sector for the next six months, money is constantly coming in and going right back out. But if you have the power to earn, you also have the power to save. On the 27th, a long overdue invoice is finally paid so put that cash somewhere safe.
With your ruling planet Mars in your sign this month—and for the rest of the year—you’re feeling extra fired up or aggressive. Especially on the 8th or 27th, you may get into a heated argument with a roommate or family member. At the lunar eclipse on the 5th, you’re either mired in office drama or stressed over making a momentous career decision. Now’s the time to let go of your own unrealistic expectations. The new moon on the 20th is a great time to stay home and freshen up your space. Once you clean out your closets, you’ll have room for not only a new wardrobe but a new attitude.
Love Horoscope: The sun enters your romance sector on the 22nd and you’re more than ready to start circulating. If you’ve recently started dating someone, the commitment vibes may surface around the 25th or 26th but try to have fun without any strings attached.
Money Horoscope: This month’s lunar eclipse on the 5th brings a shakeup to your career so whether you’re demanding a raise or quitting in a huff, make sure that you’re prepared for any financial fallout. If you’re feeling stressed about making ends meet, an unexpected payment—or a loan from Mom—arrives on the 14th to hold things together.
July is another money-focused month for you, dear Taurus. But with your ruling planet Venus finally out of retrograde, it’s time to return all those swimsuits and linen dresses that just don’t fit, get back some cash and budget for the future. On the 5th, the lunar eclipse comes with a reminder: All of your hard work means nothing if it doesn’t align with your beliefs. How have your big picture goals changed since January of 2019? How can you hustle while retaining your flow?
Love Horoscope: If the new moon in Cancer on the 20th has you feeling super nostalgic—and trust us, it will—try to check yourself before sending a text to your ex from senior year of high school. Whatever happens, you’re better off letting something go than starting something new. So if you do dig into the archives, say your piece and keep moving.
Money Horoscope: Though your finances are mostly steady and flowing, an unexpected expense might set you back on the 8th. Then on the 27th, if you’re tempted to splurge—on an expensive meal or a stunning maxi dress you literally have nowhere to wear—don’t give in to the urge. The intoxicating influence of Neptune on this day can only lead to buyer’s remorse.
With Mercury retrograde until the 12th in your finance sector, you’re either being extremely frugal or extremely reckless with your cash. Be careful on the 8th when a friend entices you with cheap plane tickets, an expensive outdoor dining experience or a makeup subscription you just can’t refuse. It’s likely a purchase you’re going to regret. At the new moon on the 20th, you may find yourself feeling extra sentimental about clothing, kitchen supplies or even some worn out books that you had been meaning to donate or give away. If you let it go, you can replace it all with something sturdier.
Love Horoscope: Now that Venus is no longer retrograde, you’re feeling more confident about yourself and your body. If you’ve been meaning to have your first socially distanced date or to update your photos on the apps, do it on the 27th when you feel extra romantic and flirty. If you’re in a relationship, take advantage of the day’s enticing vibes by doing something sweet for your boo.
Money Horoscope: Like last month, July is all about finances. At the lunar eclipse on the 5th, a shared financial matter or an issue with your taxes that you thought was settled back in January resurfaces. Remember that you can control your investments rather than letting them control you.
