The Details

Who should you bring?

Sorry, kids—this high-end resort is adults-only (guests must be over 15 years old). The sweeping views, luxe spa and private infinity pools (there’s one in each sanctuary room, NBD) are particularly well-suited for a romantic couples getaway or a ritzy solo trip to really unplug and unwind (there are no phones, radios or TVs in the sanctuaries).

What’s the food like?

The food at Jade Club was the best restaurant we tried on the island, with an emphasis on local and organic cuisine and a great atmosphere (the restaurant circles an infinity pool and there’s live music on select nights). Other dining options include dining in your sanctuary, the Celestial Terrace that hovers above the Jade Club and is perfect for sunset cocktails, and eating at Jade Mountain’s sister resort, Anse Chastanet. Expect fresh seafood and fruits and vegetables sourced from the estate’s own organic farm.

Did you get a good night’s sleep?

You’ll definitely be one with nature here, since each sanctuary room (there are only 29) has an open fourth wall that offers unobstructed views of the sea and the Pitons. Dozing off to the sounds of tree frogs and birds while gazing up at the stars is a unique experience, although it’s worth noting that while your canopy bed is under the roof and has a net, the light does creep in early from the sunrise. (Eye masks and ear plugs are provided if needed.)

What amenities are available?

There is a small but wonderful spa on site (Kai en Ciel), plus the option to have treatments in the privacy of your room. There are also free yoga classes six days a week. Your Major Domo (aka your private butler—each sanctuary gets one) will also be happy to arrange one of the many activities on offer for you, including snorkeling, scuba diving, bird watching, mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and more. Guests with a sweet tooth will enjoy Jade Mountain’s own bean to bar chocolate and the opportunity to make their own sweet treat.

How was the service?

The staff here is incredibly friendly and attentive—they truly think of everything! The Major Domos will attend to your every need via a provided cell phone.

What was your favorite part?

The gorgeous views of the Caribbean sea and the Pitons from atop the mountain in the unique sanctuary rooms are unforgettable, along with each room featuring its very own infinity pool. Pure bliss.

Know Before You Go

Jade Mountain resort is a one-hour drive from the airport and because of its unique location, there is no beach onsite but guests can take a short shuttle ride or hike down to use the two beaches at the resort’s sister property Anse Chastanet.
