Tracee Ellis Ross Channels Cher in New Instagram Post

Cher celebrated the major milestone of turning 75 yesterday, and she received birthday wishes from loads of pals, including a particularly special tribute from Tracee Ellis Ross.

To celebrate the singer, Ross posted some throwback videos from when she portrayed Cher in an episode of Black-ish (and Ross's impressions are spot on). In the series of videos, the Black-ish star is seen wearing a long, black wig and getting glammed up. In her caption, Ross said, “Happy birthday @cher! While I had fun dressing up as you on #blackish, there will never be another!”

The first clip features Ross explaining that she's getting into character. In her best Cher impression, she says, "I got you babe," quoting the #1 hit from Cher and her longtime singing partner (and husband) Sonny Bono. The next video shows Ross singing along to Cher's cover of the Bobby Hebb song "Sunny," while the last clip features Ross dancing in a shiny gold and white dress (hello '70s!) and singing the "I got you babe" refrain once again.

Ross's birthday post was adored by fellow celebs, like Phoebe Robinson, who commented laughing emojis and said: “Gorgeous and hilarious.” Rapper Fonzworth Bentley was seriously impressed by her impersonation, saying, "I mean this is actually really spot on tho."

When Ross portrayed the iconic singer back in 2020, she shared a tweet that read: "When I became @cher for tomorrow’s all new episode of @blackishabc at 9:30/8:30c on @abcnetwork ...I don’t know how y’all do it with these lashes. They were obstructing my vision. #blackish."

We're just excited to see what Cher has to say in response.
