If you loved season one of The Bodyguard, then you’re in luck. Series creator Jed Mercurio just revealed that he’s in talks with BBC about developing a second season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker announced the news during the Banff World Media Festival, saying, “We’re in talks. We’re going through the logistics of it. There’s no real update now.” (Hey, we’ll take what we can get.)
Although Mercurio admitted that BBC hasn’t green-lit season two, we have a good feeling about the renewal, since the show’s first run reached more than 11 million viewers.
The Bodyguard originally premiered on BBC in 2018 and was later picked up by Netflix. The series follows a war veteran, David Budd (Richard Madden), who joins London’s Metropolitan Police Service. When he gets assigned to protect the Right Honorable Julia Montague (Keeley Hawes), David finds himself torn between his loyalty to his job and an assassination plot he firmly believes in.
