In case you didn’t hear the exciting news, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged!
Ahead of the release of her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift and Kelce made the announcement via a joint Instagram post with the caption, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The post included pictures of Kelce taking a knee in an English garden, alongside shots of the couple embracing each other with their foreheads touching, and, of course, a close-up of the gorgeous engagement ring. The stunning ring, which appears to be an Old Mine Brilliant Cut set against an equally beautiful gold band, has a massive value as well, according to Daniella Tarantino, VP of Merchandising of James Allen and Blue Nile, who says, “Taylor Swift's gorgeous ring is likely a unique cut just for her, but to our eye it looks similar to an elongated modified cushion. We estimate it's somewhere between 10 to 15 carats total, set on a yellow gold band, likely costing between $750,000 to $1,000,000.”
Another expert, Kristy Cullinane, Co-Founder and diamond jewelry expert at Plum Diamond, shares, “Taylor's ring appears to be an old mine elongated cushion-cut ring that's approximately 6 to 7 carats in a gold reverse taper band with diamond accents. It's set with prongs and a button back, which serves like a little diamond 'frame.' It's a very romantic ring that speaks to both a classic and unique style - perfect for them as a couple! The estimated price for the ring would be $400k with a mined diamond, or up to $20k with a lab diamond.” Whatever the price tag, that's a huge rock.
Swift and Kelce began dating in July 2023, confirming their relationship with an appearance by the singer at her first Kansas City Chiefs game that September. Swift also recently made Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast, making it the most-watched podcast premiere ever. Swift's marketing team, Taylor Nation, shared 12 pictures of Swift from her Eras Tour with the caption, "Thinking about when she said, 'See you next era'", which is a reference to the last sentence in her Eras Tour book.
