Target Just Launched Its Own Food Brand, and It Has Avocado Toast Salads (?!?)

target good and gather

Half of Walmart’s sales are now from groceries, and Target’s taking note.

Instead of expanding its Archer Farms, Market Pantry and Simply Balanced lines, the big red bull’s-eye is closing those brands down and launching a new food brand geared toward millennials, called Good & Gather (which is wayyyyyy too similar to Target’s other private labels, with names like Hearth & Hand, Cat & Jack, Boots & Barkley, Shade & Shore, Smith & Hawken, Hyde & Eek!—no, seriously, lay off the ampersand, Tar-jay).

The new line will include organic options, and the products contain no artificial flavors, synthetic colors, artificial sweeteners or high-fructose corn syrup. And the press release details some of the offerings: almond butter, fruit puree pouches, beet hummus, heat-and-serve roasted poblano mac and cheese, freeze-dried fruit, flaxseed tortilla chips, almond milk and ... an avocado toast salad kit, presumably so you can eat your trendy avo toast without the guilt of whole-wheat carbs??? Isn’t that just a regular salad with avocado and croutons on it? We’re confused (and, yes, we’ve actually reached peak 2019).

The food, eventually numbering 2,000 products in all, will launch in waves starting on Sept. 15 and will be available in stores and online at Target.com for same-day delivery.

BRB, getting Good & Ready to hit our local Target in the coming weeks.
