‘Steel Magnolias’ Is Coming Back to Theaters in Honor of Its 30th Anniversary (but Not for Long)

Grab your girls, because one of our favorite movies is returning to the big screen after 30 years. Yup, Steel Magnolias is back, baby.

It’s been three decades (um, how?) since we were introduced to Shelby, M’Lynn, Truvy, Ouiser, Annelle and Clairee and now, to celebrate the film’s anniversary, Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies are bringing them back to theaters across the country.

Here’s what we know: The theatrical return will last for only three days: Sunday, May 19, Tuesday, May 21, and Wednesday, May 22. And there are only two showtimes each day (4 p.m. and 7 p.m.).

Steel Magnolias, which is based on the play of the same name, follows the relationships and friendships of a group of women in anintimate Southern community. The awesome cast includes Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah and Olympia Dukakis.

And did we mention Julia Roberts won Best Supporting Actress at the 47th Golden Globe Awards for her performance?

We just got wayyy more excited for May.
