Simone Biles Shares Emotional, Never-Before-Seen Video Diary from Olympics: ‘I’m Getting Lost in My Skills’

“Having these mental blocks in the gym recently has not been fun. It's been scary, I'm getting lost in my skills,” Biles tearfully says in the footage. “I'm so prepared that I don't know if I'm overthinking. It's getting to a point where it's becoming dangerous. It could happen at any other time. I don't get why it's happening at the Olympics. In gym, we call it the twisties. It should be a forbidden word because it sucks to have them. For anybody. And then I'm starting to get to mental blocks where I don’t want to go for the skill because I'm afraid I'm going to get hurt because I'm not doing the correct flip. At this point, I don't know what to do. It's too dangerous to do and we can't change the routines. I'm just going to have to see and try to keep it together.”

If you didn’t know, Biles dropped out of the team finals at the Tokyo Olympics due to these mental health issues. Shortly after, the gymnast also withdrew from the all-around event, allowing Jade Carey to step in and take her place.

While we hate to see our favorite gymnast struggle, we’re just glad to see her happy and healthy on her “Gold Over America” tour.
