A fun twist on a classic

Trends come and go faster than my coffee order changes. One week it’s butter yellow everything, the next it’s full-on animal print. Honestly, half the time I’m not sure if what I just bought will even be considered cute six months from now. But thankfully, there are a few style staples that stand the test of time. One of them? The ever-iconic monochromatic look. The other? A good old-fashioned LBD. And no one proved the power of the little black dress quite like Simone Biles did this week.

The Olympic gold medalist stepped out for Lindsey Vonn’s red-carpet celebration honoring her 20-year partnership with Red Bull and, let’s just say, Simone served. The event, held at Delilah in Los Angeles, brought out plenty of celeb guests but Biles stole the spotlight in a strapless, edgy black mini dress that looked like leather and featured a zipper running down the entire front.

She kept the rest of her look minimal and effortlessly chic—a straight bob, subtle jewelry (just a necklace, bracelet and earrings) and clear heels that pulled everything together without overdoing it.

And she didn’t stop there. Simone kept the fashion momentum going at the ESPYs, where she hit the red carpet in a glittering blue sequin gown with a square neckline designed by none other than Zac Posen in collaboration with Athleta.

"Zac Posen [collaborated] with Athleta to make the perfect top which was one of my favorites, the Transcend, and so that's why I have an open back. It's very comfortable underneath," Simone told People.

With smoky eyes, a glossy bob styled in soft waves and diamonds to seal the deal, it was glam with a capital G.
