Aidy Bryant’s ‘Shrill’ Is Returning for Season 2 on Hulu

Prepare for even more body-positive messages on Hulu’s Shrill, because the popular series is returning with brand-new episodes.

According to Variety, the network just renewed Shrill for season two, and it’s slated to premiere in 2020. Unlike the show’s first run, which had six 30-minute episodes, the sophomore season will consist of eight episodes. You won’t hear us complaining.

Season one of Shrill introduced viewers to Annie (Aidy Bryant), a plus-size woman who wants to change her life—not her body. Of course, this is easier said than done, considering she’s juggling several of life’s obstacles, including bad boyfriends, sick parents and a boss who can’t be pleased.

While the world might judge her for her weight, Annie makes it her mission to rise above it all. Although we don’t know much about the season two story line, Hulu confirmed that it’ll further explore Annie’s journey toward self-acceptance.

In addition to Bryant, the series also stars Lolly Adefope (Fran), Luka Jones (Ryan), John Cameron Mitchell (Gabe), Julia Sweeney (Vera), Daniel Stern (Bill), Ian Owens (Amadi), Patti Harrison (Ruthie), Dana Millican (Kim), Michael Liu (Pete) and Sean Tarjyoto (Angus).

Shrill was created by Bryant (Saturday Night Live), Alexandra Rushfield (Parks and Recreation) and Lindy West. It was loosely adapted from West’s 2016 book, Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman.

What’s next for the leading lady? Guess we’ll have to wait until season two of Shrill premieres on Hulu sometime in 2020.
