Who doesn’t love a good surprise? OK, sure, some people hate them. But when the surprise involves a major award, I'm sure most can agree—that’s the kind of unexpected moment that people love to see. And that’s exactly what happened when Selena Gomez pulled off the sweetest surprise for her Only Murders in the Building co-stars, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Let’s rewind for a second. The SAG Awards went down on February 23, where the Hulu hit won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series—an award Gomez accepted solo, as her co-stars weren’t in attendance. Short, 74, also won his first-ever SAG Award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Comedy Series, but since he was home sick with COVID, presenters Joey King and Jack Quaid had to accept it on his behalf.

Fast forward to March 12 and Gomez, 32, finally got to hand over the long-awaited trophies—and their reactions were priceless.

In a video shared by the Only Murders in the Building Instagram account, the Rare Beauty founder surprised Martin and Short with their awards, with a little help from co-star Michael Cyril Creighton and series co-creator John Hoffman.

"And the SAG Award goes to Steve Martin and Martin Short!" she announced as she walked up to them.

Short, never one to miss a comedic moment, dramatically pretended to collapse under the weight of his awards before launching into a hilarious acceptance speech.

"I would like to thank the Academy and everyone in the crew… whose names I just don’t know," he joked.

Needless to say, it was a well-deserved win—and the perfect way to kick off season five, which the show just confirmed is officially in production.
