Sara Gilbert is praising her onscreen daughter, Emma Kenney, in light of her seeking treatment for her personal “battles.”
On yesterday’s episode of The Talk, Gilbert took the time to send a supportive message to Kenney, who plays Darlene’s daughter, Harris, on the Roseanne revival. She said, “I just first want to say, Emma, I’m so proud of you. I know that the whole cast and crew is so proud of you.”
The Talk co-host went on to applaud the 18-year-old’s bravery, saying, “It takes a lot of courage to—we all have demons—it takes a lot of courage to face them, particularly at 18. I envy you. If I could go back to being 18 and start doing things to better myself at the pace you’re doing, I would be at a better person today.”
Earlier this week, Kenney announced she’s checking herself into treatment to learn how to cope with stress and boredom to “make better choices,” and Gilbert couldn’t be prouder. She added, “I commend you, I love you, and I know you will come out the other side. Thank you for speaking up and being an example for other people.”
You got this, Emma. Roseanne airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
