Sandra Bullock has issued a warning to fans about scammers.

While one might assume that one of the top actresses of our time would have social media accounts, she actually doesn’t—which is exactly why she is addressing the recent issue of social media scammers impersonating her family to swindle fans. "My family's safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern," Bullock told People in a statement released on February 3, adding, "And there will be a time when I will comment more, but for now our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter. Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me."

The Speed star’s statement comes in the aftermath of an Instagram post from her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, where she detailed her daily experiences of dealing with fake accounts in her name.

"I spend multiple times a day reporting fakes, dealing with weird and scary emails to my BUSINESS and HOME from men who believe that, through one of these many fake 'me's, they have a relationship with my sister through private messages and off app sites and have been giving (sometimes) THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS to an incredibly famous and successful grown assed woman," she wrote, further noting that these accounts are run by crime rings.

"These accounts are run by crime rings. They also run fake groups where a fake me posts "official statements." Not me. This is my only account and y’all know it’s about baking, cooking, animals, and gardening. I'm a grown assed middle-aged woman with a life, and I don't troll around at 54 DMing people."

Bullock-Prado also shared a January news report from People about Brad Pitt warning the general public about interacting with fake social media accounts after a French woman lost $850,000 as a result of the aforementioned scams.

As for Bullock, the actress has largely remained out of the spotlight since the passing of her partner Bryan Randall after a lengthy battle with ALS. Bullock has two children, Louis (14) and Laila (12).
