Lucy Hale Will Definitely Be Singing in ‘Katy Keene,' the New 'Riverdale' Spin-Off

Listen up, PLL fans: Lucy Hale has officially confirmed that she will indeed be singing in Katy Keene, the forthcoming Riverdale spin-off.

The series is a musical dramedy that follows Keene, an aspiring fashionista, along with three other artists in NYC. The show chronicles their successes and failures as they try to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the music industry.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, the Pretty Little Liars star spilled some more details on what fans can expect from the show.

“Katy Keene takes place five years in the future, so my character on Riverdale [is] going back in time to when I’m in high school,” she says. “There’s a really great scene between Veronica and Katy where they’re discussing Katy’s mom and you realize the importance of Katy’s mom throughout this whole story. One of the first voiceover lines in the pilot is, ‘My mother’s name was Katherine Keene.’ So that sort of sets you up for a lot of the season.”

And as for the singing? “They haven’t told me that I can’t say that, so I’m just going to!” Fair.

Roberto Aquirre-Sacasa (Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) directs the spin-off and penned the script alongside Michael Grassi (Riverdale). They also serve as executive producers along with Greg Berlanti (The Flash), Sarah Schechter (Black Lightning) and Jon Goldwater (Riverdale).

Riverdale originally premiered on The CW in 2017 and starred KJ Apa (Archie Andrews), Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Cole Sprouse (Jughead Jones), Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom) and Casey Cott (Kevin Keller).

Set your DVRs—Katy Keene premieres on The CW Thursday, February 6, at 8 p.m. ET.
