Reese Witherspoon Celebrates Jennifer Aniston’s Birthday with an Iconic ‘Friends’ Throwback

As any major Friends fan probably remembers, long before Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston played co-anchors on the Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show, the pair actually played sisters on Friends. That's right—Witherspoon guest-starred on the hit ’90s sitcom as Rachel Green's antagonizing younger sister, Jill.

Just yesterday, Aniston celebrated her 53rd birthday, and Witherspoon decided to commemorate the special day by sharing a throwback video from their iconic turn as siblings. “In honor of @jenniferaniston’s bday: the Green Sisters,” Witherspoon said in the caption, along with two green heart emojis.

The clip she chose was pulled from episode 14 of season 6, titled, “The One Where Chandler Can't Cry.” In this scene, Jill is about to go on a date with Ross (David Schwimmer) and it sparks jealousy in Rachel, who tries to stop it from happening.

Before embarking on the date, Witherspoon's character walks up in a matching black top and skirt, with a leather jacket layered on top. “So, what do you think?” she asks Rachel. “Uh, I don't like it,” Rachel says, adding, “It's kinda sl*tty.” Jill, with a surprised look, responds, “It's yours.” To which Rachel comically retorts, “Yeah, well I'm a sl*t.”

Aniston commented on Witherspoon's birthday post, “Ahhhahahaa I LOVE THIS and I LOVE YOU!!” She also included a laughing face emoji and a red heart.

Others loved the video just as much, like Erin Foster, who said, “This kills me [laughing emoji] nothing gets me fan girling more.” The official account for The Home Edit added, “Rewatching this episode IMMEDIATELY.”

While this episode aired over 20 years ago, it seems these two actresses haven't lost any of their on-screen chemistry, given that their latest joint project, The Morning Show, just got renewed for a third season.

Time to go rewatch this classic Friends episode in honor of Jen's birthday.
