Reese Witherspoon Looks Just Like Her Daughter Ava on New ‘Vanity Fair’ Cover

It’s a well-known fact that Reese Witherspoon and her 20-year-old daughter Ava Phillippe are basically twins, but the 43-year-old Big Little Lies star’s most recent magazine cover really sealed the deal.

Witherspoon, whose brand-new series Little Fires Everywhere just debuted on Hulu, appeared on the brand-new cover of Vanity Fair looking shockingly similar to her daughter Ava. The Oscar winner shared her cover on her personal Instagram account and though she didn’t say anything about how much she looks like Phillippe, it was hard to miss.

“When I first saw this cover, I thought, ‘Oh my goodness…what a goofball!’ But here I am captured, probably snort-laughing, in all my goofy glory!” Witherspoon joked. Funny, when we first saw this cover, we thought, how is she aging in reverse?

Witherspoon went on to write, “I enjoyed every minute of chatting with the divine #AnnPatchett (one of my favorite authors and independent booksellers) about storytelling, growing up in Nashville, and the importance of dog portraits! There might even be an embarrassing high school story involving beer and a coke machine. Thanks to the whole team who made me laugh all day. Photos by @jackie_nickerson. Hair and makeup by @HairbyAdir and @romyglow.”

For reference, here’s a recent photo of Phillippe making a similar face to her mom’s Vanity Fair cover smile while arriving at the Valentino show at Paris Fashion Week (NBD).

See what we mean? They’re nearly identical.

All we can say is that those are some genes!
