Priyanka Chopra and Mindy Kaling are teaming up for an all-new movie that combines everything we love about Crazy Rich Asians and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
According to Deadline, the duo is set to star in an upcoming comedy about a lavish Indian wedding. (Sound familiar?) The film will take place in both America and India, so we can expect to see a culture clash…with a rom-com twist.
Kaling and Dan Goor (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) will cowrite the new movie. The pair will also serve as executive producers alongside Howard Klein (The Office). Although The Mindy Project star has an option to direct the film, she hasn’t confirmed whether or not she’ll take on the trifecta. *Crosses fingers*
The announcement comes just a few weeks after Universal won the film’s rights in a high-level bidding war. The studio beat out Sony, Legendary, Netflix and Amazon Studios.
