Norway’s Royal Family Just Released Gorgeous New Portraits of Princess Ingrid Alexandra for Her 18th Birthday

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway finally had a belated 18th birthday celebration, and in order to mark the special occasion, the Norwegian royal family shared a set of gorgeous new photos to Instagram.

Royal aficionados might be scratching their heads because the young princess's birthday actually took place back in January (and the moment was marked with new portraits then, too), however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, an official celebration was held off until now.

As a part of this delayed celebration, Princess Ingrid Alexandra posed for a set of official photos, where she is seen sporting a navy blue dress adorned with a red sash and a series of small medals pinned to the front. She also wears an intricate pearl tiara (which marks the first time she's worn the royal headwear!).

The photos were taken by Ida Bjørvik from the Royal Court, and the caption of the post (loosely translated to English) read, “On the occasion of Princess Ingrid Alexandra's official day, new official photos have been taken. The princess is celebrated tonight with a gala dinner at the Palace.”

18-year-old Ingrid Alexandra is the eldest child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway. Following her father, the princess is second in line in succession to the Norwegian throne, and if she becomes queen, she will be the second female monarch in all of Norwegian royal history, after Queen Margaret succeeded to the throne in the late 1300s.

A series of photos from the gala were also shared to the Norwegian royal family Instagram account, where the first snap sees the princess seemingly in the middle of a speech. Following this shot, we can see that the evening was full of speeches from other family members, special musical performances and more.

Congrats, Princess Ingrid Alexandra!
