In celebration of Princess Charlotte's second birthday, Kensington Palace released an adorable portrait ahead of her May 2 birthday taken by mom Kate Middleton, the Duchess Cambridge, outside the family's home in Norfolk, England.

While it's easy to get caught up in her precious barrette and pensive blue eyes, it’s nearly impossible for the similarities between two-year-old Char and Queen Elizabeth II, or “Gan-Gan,” (as the royal great-grandchildren call her), to go unnoticed. The resemblance between the young Queen Elizabeth and Princess Charlotte is downright mesmerizing. From their girlish, Peter Pan collars to the side swoop of their lobs, there's no denying they hail from the same royal lineage.
