It was a busy week for all the royals, but especially Princess Beatrice as she bopped between London and New York City last week—and all within 24 hours. One minute, Sarah Ferguson’s daughter was pictured arm-in-arm with her sister, Princess Eugenie, checking out the blooms at the Chelsea Flower Show; the next, she was dressed to the nines at the New York Women in Communications’ 55th Annual Matrix Awards in NYC, where she was on hand to bestow a special honor to a dear friend—and one with a connection to her royal cousin-in-law, Meghan Markle.
Princess Beatrice Pops Up in NYC for Surprise Appearance—and There’s a Connection to Meghan Markle
The trans-Atlantic overlap is real

The friend in question is Spotify Chief Public Affairs Officer Dustee Jenkins. The awards ceremony, hosted by the largest organization of professional women in NYC, brought Beatrice to the mic, where she expressed how proud she was of her friend’s accomplishments: “Her work touches millions through policy, through storytelling and through a deep connection to responsibility,” Beatrice said in her remarks.
She continued on: “When speaking to a friend like Dustee, you are overcome with the joy and the energy that she brings and I am so honored to be standing here amongst so many incredible women and I’m so grateful that my wonderful friend is receiving this award because she really deserves it. Because she really is the light.”
Of course, Meghan and Prince Harry’s relationship with Spotify notably ended in June 2023 after the royal pair and the streaming giant “mutually agreed to part ways.” We’re not saying that Jenkins worked directly with Meghan and Harry—or even on Meghan’s “Archetypes” podcast—during the Sussexes’ time there, but there’s an overlap with Beatrice honoring Jenkins, a Spotify executive, but also a longtime friend. (Cue one of those degrees of separation-type charts.)
Proof that the world, especially as it applies to the royal family, is small? We’d say so. But also, the frequency of royals, like Beatrice, making that cross-Atlantic flight continues to go up. (King Charles is next!)
