What Does Kate Middleton Call Hubby Prince William? Her Pet Name for Him Is...Not that Original

When it comes to nicknames, Kate Middleton isn’t one to venture outside of the box.

While attending the Chelsea Flower Show in 2016, the Duchess of Cambridge accidentally let slip one of her pet names for Prince William. The garden's designer, Australian TV presenter and landscaper Charlie Albon, was present for the conversation and revealed the details to Channel 9's Today Show.

“I got to meet Prince Will and Prince Harry,” Albon said according to Grazia U.K. “Prince William was quite funny actually. He came up and said, ‘What [flower] is this one?’, and I replied: ‘That's a Buxus.’” That was when Middleton was heard telling her husband, "Babe, we've got those. We've got loads of those." How refreshingly...unoriginal.

Of course, that's not the first nickname William has had in his life. The Duke of Cambridge had the adorable childhood nickname “Wombat,” which was given to him by his mother, Princess Diana. In a 2007 interview with NBC, William (or shall we say Will) admitted the name has stuck with him. “I can’t get rid of it now,” he said. “It began when I was two. I’ve been rightfully told because I can’t remember back that far, but when we went to Australia with our parents, and the wombat, you know, that’s the local animal, so I just basically got called that, not because I look like a wombat, or maybe I do.” But when it comes to his kids, he’s simply known as “Pops.”

We think we’ll stick with calling him, Will.
