Prince William turns 43 today and his wife, Kate Middleton (plus, their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) didn’t miss a beat publicly sending birthday wishes with a new pic and personal message on Instagram.

But the social media post also included a bit of news: Namely, the debut of three of four new Cocker Spaniel puppies—all being cuddled by William—who their beloved dog, Orla, gave birth to last month, per The Sun.
As a reminder, Orla was given to the Wales family by Kate’s brother, James Middleton, shortly after the death of their previous dog, Lupo, in 2020. As the puppies gather around the Prince of Wales in the pic, you can also see Orla sweetly hovering in the background.
The caption for birthday tribute read: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!” A paw print emoji was included at the end. (According to the BBC, the photo of William was taken in Windsor earlier this month.)

Additional birthday tributes followed: King Charles, via the official Instagram account of the Royal Family, also posted a birthday message for William to Instagram Stories with a pic of the prince sitting alone on a stone wall on the Duchy of Cornwall, a parcel of land he now owns. (The caption read: “Happy Birthday to the Prince of Wales!”)

As for how William and his family plans to celebrate? That’s TBD. But the pic shared by Kate, their kids and the dogs show a prince that looks relaxed and at ease—not to mention, wearing denim. On the heels of so many formal engagements (Trooping the Colour! Garter Day! Royal Ascot!), we’re guessing a low-key celebration is the exact plan he’d prefer.
