Every year, Trooping the Colour marks the official celebration of King Charles’s birthday and all the royals—Kate Middleton, Prince William and more—step out to help celebrate. Today was no exception with the Princess of Wales taking center stage alongside her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as they rode in an open-top carriage along the mall from Buckingham Palace. Sure, Kate and Charlotte were twinning in electric blue, but George and Louis also stole the show looking practically identical in matching suit jackets and bright red ties.

In previous years, all three kids have sat side-by-side for the processional, but this year, Kate and Charlotte shared a bench seat with George and Louis seated directly across. This provided ample opportunity to catch a glimpse of just how much the royal brothers have grown. George is now 11—he turns 12 in July—and Louis just turned 7 this past April. (Time truly lies.) It was especially delightful to watch Louis try (successfully) to get his older bro to crack a smile. From their royal wave to their mannerisms to their outfits—the royal siblings seem to mirror each other in more ways than one.

Of course, over the years, Louis has gotten a royal reputation for being a bit of a scene-stealer. (#TBT to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee balcony experience, whoops.) But he clearly has an example to look up to in his older brother while still consistently adding necessary levity to royal proceedings, however regal they may be. (It’s honestly quite sweet to see both Louis and George chatting away as the carriage goes by.)

As for Kate’s response, it’s apparent how much she enjoys being with her children for a formal royal occasion such as this. She can be seen talking and laughing and engaging with all three kids throughout. (We’re guessing the sunny weather also made this year a bit more fun in comparison with last year’s epic downpour—at the very least, it was more fashion-friendly.)

Needless to see, it’s always a delight to see the Wales fam.
