Prince Philip may have passed away earlier this year, but new details about his will are still emerging.
Last month, People reported that the late Duke of Edinburgh’s will is stored inside a secret safe held by High Court judge Sir Andrew McFarlane at The Royal Courts of Justice in London. In addition to his own, the special safe also stores royal wills dating back to 1911, including those of the Queen Mother, Lord Louis Mountbatten, Princess Margaret, King Edward VIII and 27 others.
“I am now custodian of a safe in which there are over thirty envelopes, each of which purports to contain the sealed will of a deceased member of the Royal Family," McFarlane revealed during a legal battle over the secrecy of the prince’s will. "I can confirm that the earliest such envelope is labeled as containing the will of Prince Francis of Teck. The most recent additions were made in 2002 and are, respectively, the wills of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother and Her late Royal Highness Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the prince’s will. Back in May, we learned that the Duke of Edinburgh left an estimated £30 million (about $42 million) to his employees.
