In 2019, there’s a convention for just about everyone, from Comic Con (for comic enthusiasts) and Beautycon (for beauty enthusiasts) to DragCon (for drag enthusiasts).
The latest addition to this growing roster of meet-ups of like-minded people? Period Con.
On January 26 and 27, the youth-run nonprofit PERIOD will host its second-annual Period Con in New York City. A conference for young people in the nonprofit’s campus chapter network, the event is meant to raise awareness and promote advocacy for its mission to end period poverty (the lack of access to period products) and period stigma.
During the two-day conference, youth activists in attendance will receive training in how to educate their community on how to be more period-positive and period-knowledgeable, push for access to period products in their schools and distribute menstrual products to homeless shelters.
Impressive, no?
