As summer kicks off, Nicole Kidman is turning up the heat—literally. Known for her signature blonde (and occasionally strawberry blonde) hair, the Australian actress just debuted a bold new look for her Allure magazine cover shoot, and it's a total head-turner. I actually had to do a double take. Why? Because she’s now rocking a vibrant red hue, paired with sleek bobs and blunt bangs that give her a totally fresh vibe.

In the cover shoot, Kidman stuns in a barely-there lace dress, but let’s be real—the hair steals the show. The edgy transformation comes courtesy of hairstylist Evanie Frausto, and her hairstyles in the photos range from a razor-sharp lob with thick bangs to a longer, super-straight style finished with a jagged micro-fringe. It's giving futuristic glamour with a hint of classic rock star.

But when it comes to what people actually notice first about her, and why they may find her intimidating, Kidman says it’s not the hair—it’s her height.

“I think the height has something to do with it,” she said in the interview. “My mom always said, ‘It’s hard being five ten and a half.’ I have not shrunk at all. I’ll be very happy when it happens.”

Beyond the glam, Kidman also opened up about life at home as a mom to her teenage daughters, Sunday Rose, 16, and Faith Margaret, 14, whom she shares with husband Keith Urban.

When asked if she likes the mother she’s become, she answered, “I do, actually. I’m very close to both my girls. I sit on their beds and discuss the most intimate things; I get to be their guide.”
