MyKayla Skinner Sent Another Message of Support to Simone Biles Ahead of Balance Beam Event

Simone Biles just received another personal message from her teammate and pal, MyKayla Skinner. Only this time, it was as Biles prepared to compete in Tokyo, rather than Skinner.

On Tuesday, the 24-year-old G.O.A.T. competed in the final individual event for gymnastics at this year’s Tokyo Olympics—the balance beam final. And while she received tons of well wishes and support before her big return, it was Skinner’s message that really stood out to us.

“Can’t wait to see you shine!!! @simonebiles,” Skinner wrote in a post on her Instagram Story. It seems like all of the support (combined with Biles’s impressive skills) worked because the champion managed to earn herself a bronze medal with a score of 14.000.

Skinner’s words didn’t stop there. Following the big win she shared a video of her friend holding up her medal and laughing with joy. “So beautiful,” Skinner says in the clip before adding, “Congrats, you were awesome.”

The exciting news comes after Biles had exited the team final last week after experiencing the “twisties”, a mental phenomenon that results in a gymnast no longer being able to perform a trick. The champion subsequently withdrew from all her other individual event finals including the vault.

While Biles didn’t compete in the event, Skinner did and made sure to shout out Biles ahead of her chance at the gold. “Looks like I get to put a competition Leo on just one more time. Can’t wait to compete in vault finals. Doing this for us @simonebiles ♥ It’s go time baby!”

There’s just something about the friendship between these two that we can’t get enough of.
