Mindy Kaling takes Halloween very seriously. So, this year, she decided to dress as a handful of “female comedy legends.”
On Friday, The Office star gave fans a glimpse at her costumes on Instagram and provided an explanation about how she made her decision. “So, I live for Halloween costumes,” she captioned the post. “This year I decided to dress as a few female comedy legends in some of their iconic lewks. Can you guess who I am???”
It wasn’t long before fans and followers filled the comments section with their best guesses (most of which were spot on). Kaling recreated looks from Joan Rivers (Fashion Police), Ali Wong (Dressing Funny), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Issa Rae (Insecure) and Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde).
This wasn’t the only way the mother of two celebrated the spooky holiday. She also posted a throwback featuring herself and Angela Kinsey on the set of The Office. “It is INSANE that Kelly Kapoor wore such a skimpy 5th Element costume TO WORK!” she wrote alongside the photo. “I have no memory of this. At least @angelakinsey looks cute. Happy Halloween! Enjoy! #tbt.”
In the snap, we see Kaling dressed as Cleopatra (we think) and Angela as a black widow spider. As Office superfans, we couldn’t help but wonder what Halloween episode this was from. With a little help from fellow fans, we realized the image was taken from a deleted scene that featured a costume contest. episode.
