The pic shows Michael on the set of the prequel wearing brown pants, a gold chain and a green-striped shirt, and he could practically pass as his father’s twin (with hair of course).
We first learned about Michael’s involvement back in January when he announced that he’s following in his father’s footsteps (literally). The young actor released a statement in which he revealed that he couldn’t be more thrilled to reprise the iconic character.
“It’s a profound honor to continue my dad’s legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano,” he wrote. “I’m thrilled that I am going to have the opportunity to work with David Chase and the incredible company of talent he has assembled for The Many Saints of Newark.”
The sequel is directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and takes place during the Newark riots in the ’60s. In addition to Michael, The Many Saints of Newark also stars Corey Stoll (House of Cards), Billy Magnussen (Into the Woods), Jon Bernthal (Wolf of Wall Street), Alessandro Nivola (American Hustle) and Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel).
Talk about a full-circle moment.
