Meghan Markle Teases Brand-New Docuseries: ‘We’re Trusting Our Story to Someone Else’

Meghan Markle is ready to share her story with the world.

The Duchess of Sussex sat down for a candid interview with Variety, where she discussed everything from Queen Elizabeth’s funeral to Oprah Winfrey’s interview. Markle also confirmed that director Liz Garbus (Lost Girls) is developing a docuseries about her and Prince Harry’s love story.

“It’s nice to be able to trust someone with our story—a seasoned director whose work I’ve long admired—even if it means it may not be the way we would have told it. But that’s not why we’re telling it,” she told the outlet. “We’re trusting our story to someone else, and that means it will go through their lens.”

Markle admitted that she’s thrilled to return to the entertainment industry after starring on Suits. However, the same can’t be said about Prince Harry.

“It’s interesting. My husband has never worked in this industry before. For me, having worked on Suits, it’s so amazing to be around so much creative energy and to see how people work together and share their own points of view. That’s been really fun.”

If the documentary sounds familiar, it’s probably because Markle previously discussed the possibility of producing a series about her life. But at the time, she played coy and referenced her now-canceled Netflix show, Pearl.

“I don’t read any press. So, I don’t know what’s confirmed,” she said on her podcast, Archetypes. “I will tell you Liz Garbus is incredible. Liz Garbus also worked on Pearl.”

She continued, “When the media has shaped the story around you, it’s really nice to be able to tell your own story.”

All we have to say is…it’s about damn time.
