Meghan Markle Posts Easter Encounter with Baby Ducklings—But I Can’t Stop Thinking About What She’s Wearing

The shirtdress reminds me of her royal days

With much of the royal family making a public appearance at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle to celebrate Easter Sunday, it’s hard not to wonder what’s happening in Montecito, California—specifically how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated now that they’re located thousands of miles away. We got a glimpse via the release of Meghan’s updated ShopMy page, where she posted a special edit of Easter-themed items just ahead of the holiday. But then—surprise!—an Instagram post appeared on Meghan’s official IG page. In it, she happens upon a bevy of baby ducklings. Still, I can’t stop thinking about her sleek white shirtdress.

In a lot of ways, Meghan’s Easter style harkens back to her royal days. The white shirtdress was a signature piece in her wardrobe with the Duchess of Sussex wearing variations on it to places ranging from South Africa to Royal Ascot. (In fact, her 2018 look—from Givenchy—featured elegant lace detailing and is a forever favorite of mine, especially as she wore it paired with a Philip Treacy hat.)

That’s why it was so fun to see Meghan barefoot and reacting with glee as she encountered a mother duckling and her chicks crossing what appears to be a driveway on Easter morning. Her crisp white dress, with it’s black button detailing, is as elegant as it is everyday and certainly a style staple that belongs in everyone’s summer closet. The Duchess of Sussex captioned the post: “Wishing you a Happy Easter full of love...and surprises!”

For me, that included the ducks and the unexpected summer fashion inspo.
