It was an Easter to remember for the royal family: Sure, the Prince and Princess of Wales (and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis) were notably absent, but King Charles, Queen Camilla, even Princess Anne and Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh all turned out. Our eyes were on the royal fashion, of course, but also the receiving line—and Princess Eugenie, specifically—as the king arrived at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in the U.K. on Sunday morning.
Princess Eugenie Nails Her Easter Curtsy to the King But Adds Her Own Surprise Twist
I love the familial feel

Why Eugenie? Well, the youngest daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew looked absolutely radiant (her stylish hat with netting was a royal triumph, if you ask us), but she also nailed her curtsy to King Charles as the monarch entered the chapel—and gave it her own playful touch.
If you peek the video (fast forward to the 2:40 mark), you’ll see it: Eugenie bows her head and elegantly dips to acknowledge the king’s entrance, but in a clear sign of the pair’s closeness, she also offers a delicate wave and smile as part of her greeting. It’s equal parts formal and familial—a demonstration that protocol will always be respected while providing a glimpse into her relationship with Charles behind-the-scenes.

Her husband, Jack Brooksbank, as well as Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, are also seen bowing their heads as Charles arrives on Easter morning. Still, it’s Eugenie’s charming wave that appears to set the tone for what looked to be a lovely day in Windsor with or without the Wales Fam.
About that royal protocol: Men are typically expected to bow their head as a way to acknowledge the king and queen while the women dip down into a low curtsy.
Points to Eugenie for giving it her own royal flair.
