Now that Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman’s daughter, Maya, has dabbled in acting, the 21-year-old actress is teasing an all-new project.
Maya just announced that she’s releasing two debut singles on August 16, titled “To Love a Boy” and “Stay Open.” The Stranger Things star penned the lyrics for both tracks alongside Grammy Award–winning songwriter Jesse Harris, who wrote the music.
The actress teased a snippet of her new music on Instagram and revealed that she’ll be performing her first-ever show in Williamsburg, Virginia.
She wrote, “Here is a snippet from one of the first two songs I’m going to release (lyrics by me music by Jesse Harris) and preview of the cover for this A side/B side single. They will be released on August 16th and I’m playing a show to celebrate at the Sultan Room in Williamsburg on August 21st. Link for tickets is in my bio.”
In a statement, Maya discussed her “passion project,” which has been two years in the making. “I have loved singing, writing lyrics and music since I can remember,” she said. “For the last two years, Jesse and I have worked on these songs, and we are really excited to finally share them with an audience.”
Now all we need is a duet with Maya and Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), and we have ourselves a dream come true.
