Luxembourg's Princess Had This to Say About Meghan Markle

First, it was George Clooney. Now, others around the world, including Luxembourg’s Princess Tessy Antony, have come to Meghan Markle’s defense.

Princess Tessy posted about the duchess on Twitter, responding to an op-ed article from Royal Central defending Markle against criticism.

“Absolutely!” Tessy wrote. “No one deserves that. One should never assume. Either you know or be [quiet],” Tessy, 33, wrote. “It’s not nice to talk badly about someone else just because one can, as he or she takes advantage of the anonymity of the web.”

Tessy, who separated from her husband, Prince Louis of Luxembourg, in 2017, finished the tweet with “Stay Kind!!! it’s the new cool! She does not deserve that.”

During a press conference for Clooney’s new Hulu show Catch-22, the Michael Clayton actor condemned the “irresponsible” treatment of the Duchess of Sussex.

“They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere,” referring to the press, particularly tabloids that have purported rumors of a Middleton-Markle feud and about the delicate situation with the duchess’s father, Thomas Markle.

“She’s been pursued and vilified,” Clooney told reporters, according to Australia’s Who magazine. “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself.”

“We’ve seen how that ends,” Clooney said per Who magazine, most likely in reference to Princess Diana’s fatal car crash in 1997. 

Five of Markle’s friends recently came forward as anonymous sources to defend the duchess as well in People. This “inner circle” spoke out against public scrutiny and criticism of their friend the duchess. 

“Meg has silently sat back and endured the lies and untruths…we worry about what this is doing to her and the baby. It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant,” one of the five friends told the publication.

We know one thing for certain (besides the fact that the negativity needs to stop): Meg’s royal friend group is growing by the second (and, um, can we join, too?).
