Serena Williams's Tweet May Have Just Revealed That She's 1 of Meghan Markle's ‘Anonymous' Friends

ICYMI: Five of Meghan Markle’s friends came forward to defend their friend from what they see as “global bullying” of the royal mama-to-be, and asked to remain anonymous.

Now, Serena Williams may have just revealed herself as one of the friends involved in the People magazine article that saw a group of the duchesss close inner circle speak out against public scrutiny and criticism.

On Thursday, Williams tweeted a photo of herself with a teacup. She captioned it “Sips tea…” possibly referencing herself as one of the article’s sources, a confidante of Markle’s who shared a cuppa with the duchess in her home.

“She made the most lovely meals. She made tea every day,” one of the five friends, who’s “L.A.-based” said during the interview (Williams splits her time between Beverly Hills and Palm Beach, California). So, does this mean Serena just spilled the tea…on herself? (Not literally, hopefully.)

Williams and Markle have been friends since 2010 when they met at a Super Bowl party. The tennis star attended Markle and Prince Harrys royal wedding in May with her husband, Alexis Ohanian. Markle returned the favor by cheering Williams on at Wimbledon alongside new sis-in-law Kate Middleton. They also went to Harry’s polo match together in July, and Markle frequently wears clothing from Williamss line.

So what else did this article reveal? Pretty interesting info (besides the fact that the duchess is aware of the gossip surrounding her). They said the duchess cooks for herself and Prince Harry every day, so that’s sorta surprising. The five friends also said that “Meg has silently sat back and endured the lies and untruths…we worry about what this is doing to her and the baby. It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant.”

Bets on whether Williams is one of the “anonymous five”? We’re hoping this becomes a Netflix documentary ASAP.
