First, it was Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. Then it was Rihanna. Last year, it was Usher. And now, Kendrick Lamar is the newest Super Bowl headliner.

Today, the “Not Like Us” rapper, 37, took the stage at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. I was so distracted by all the Taylor Swift sightings that I nearly missed Lamar’s near-wardrobe malfunction.

Lamar delivered an impressive performance with all his best songs, including “Not Like Us,” “HUMBLE” and “All the Stars” (which included a surprise cameo by SZA). I couldn’t take my eyes off the rapper’s pants, which almost caused a wardrobe malfunction.

Lamar was wearing bell bottom jeans that were so long, he was stepping on the hem throughout the entire performance. The front of the pants folded over his shoes in a way that couldn’t have gone unnoticed by his wardrobe team…right?

To make matters worse, Lamar didn’t have a wardrobe change. Therefore, he wore the too-long pants as he moved from platform to platform, performing song after song. Either he needs to get a new tailor, or he needs to teach a master class in trendsetting. Because my attention is piqued.

Ahead of his Super Bowl performance, Lamar sat down for an interview with Apple Music and revealed that the theme of his performance is “storytelling.”

“I think I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog, and my history of music,” the rapper said. “I’ve always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I’m on, you know, whether it’s a world tour or whether it was 500 people at Key Club, I’ve always had a form of that.”

Lamar continued, “I like to always carry on that sense of, you know, make people listen, but also see and think a little.”

If you need me, I’ll be blasting “Not Like Us” on repeat.
