The palace is setting the record straight about Kate Middleton’s recovery from abdominal surgery.
Today, a representative for Princess Catherine, 42, released a statement to E! News addressing rumors about when the royal will return to her official duties. “Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we'd only be providing significant updates,” the spokesperson said. “That guidance stands.”
The rep was referring to the initial statement that was released back in January 2024. “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to hospital yesterday for planned abdominal surgery,” it read. “The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
Two weeks later, Kensington Palace issued another statement confirming that the Princess of Wales had been released from the hospital. It read, “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.”
Shortly after, Princess Catherine left Windsor Castle to stay at Anmer Hall, which is the Norfolk home she shares with Prince William, 41. It is expected she has since returned to Windsor. Rumors started circulating this week when the Prince of Wales failed to attend King Constantine of Greece’s memorial service due to “personal reasons,” prompting a palace insider to reassure well-wishers that she “continues to be doing well.”
