Kate Middleton Changes Up Her Hair (Again) for First Engagement of 2022

The Duchess of Cambridge is kicking off her first event of the year by changing up her hair.

While heading to the Foundling Museum with Prince William for their first public engagement of the year, Kate Middleton was spotted rocking a dark navy outfit with a light blue trench coat (below, right). But what really caught our eye was her bouncy blowout with curls—a big change from the laid-back waves in her birthday portraits (below, left).

The new style and darker shade are also a big deviation from Middleton's defined waves at last year's royal Christmas event, "Together at Christmas." In case you missed it, her brown tresses also had a lighter, caramel-brown tint back then.

Per Hello, the duchess recently joined her husband at the Foundling Museum to meet with representatives and discuss the issues surrounding foster care in the U.K. And after joining a roundtable with experts, the royal couple sat down with people who've been impacted by the foster care system, including former athlete Kriss Akabusi and author Lemn Sissay.

Prince William and Middleton also got to speak with young people who are part of the Foundling Museum's Tracing Our Tales program—a three-year project designed to train and mentor young adults who've experienced foster care. They even joined the group for an ice breaker activity, which involved drawing with three-foot long pencils on a large canvas.

Of course, Middleton's current hair change (back to a look she's rocked in the past) is just one of many hair transformations. If you recall, the 40-year-old mom has made quite a few tweaks to her hair over the years, from blonde highlights and fake bobs to curtain bangs.

Something tells us this won't be the last time we see the duchess rocking a new 'do.
